Balsam Gourd (Ibervillea lindheimerii) cucurbitaceae

from $15.00

A caudex forming cucurbit of the southwest. Found in New Mexico and Texas. The plant likes growing on shrubs to around 6 feet high. Annual growth returns each warm season from a perennial tuber that gets fatter every year. Bright Red fruits 1-2 inches long are edible with little taste. This is mainly a plant for caudex collectors and an excellent one at that. It would also make an insane plant for a bonsai.
