The ancestor of all corn. A resilient, disease resistant plant. Teosinte has 13,000 years of ethnobotanical use in Mexico. In modern day it is mainly used as a type of sweet sugarcane and sometimes planted on the edge of corn fields for believed protection and added vigor. This plant has a multi branching habit.
