This fruit is from the deserts or grasslands of Paraguay. It actually has no spines despite the name. Very compact in size it grows low to the ground. Fruits are like sweet tart candies and are pleasant to eat. This shrub is hardy to lower temperatures possibly into the low 20s F. Very tough and drought resistant tree.
