Maki (Podocarpus macrophyllus) podocarpaceae

from $8.00

The most northern yew berry native to Japan and China. Though they make a fruit, podocarpus are closest related to pine trees. The tree is very adaptable and is occasionally grown as a landscape tree or hedge and make great bonsais. The false fruits that hang separate from the seed are edible and nice to eat, reminding you of a chewy sweet gum drop candy. The fruits are made into jams and pies.
