Sometimes called Chilean Palo verde because of its attractive green bark. This south American legume is a very interesting tree to grow in most parts of the world. The fruits are very tasty, in English called gingerbread fruit. Both the fruits and the seeds are edible and valued in Argentina and Chile for human and animal consumption. The yellow wood is used for carpentry. The fruits are cooked down into a delicious honey like syrup. Used for sore throats and coughing. I think it tastes similar to mesquite except 20 times better. Trees have pretty blue leaves and a green trunk. This species is thought to withstand down to -13C or 8F. Super drought and high heat tolerant as well
