Orange Stellatus (Stenocereus stellatus) cactaceae

from $8.00

In Oaxaca this fruit is known as Pitaya de Augusto. Stelatus is a robust species of stenocereus that grows and roots fast, even in slightly cooler conditions. The cactus grows as a medium tall columnar form with an attractive shape. The fruits ripen from August to November and has a sweet/tart taste that is very refreshing. Each color has a different taste of course which is correlated with unique antioxidants. The orange type was something special to me. Hard to put into words. Something like mango essence.
