Solanum vestissimum (lulo de paramo)

Sale Price:$8.00 Original Price:$10.00

A newly discovered fruit from the colombian highlands at 2800 feet. This is the first time this species has been fruited in the USA. Lulo de paramo is a close cousin of the naranjilla but has some notable differences. Its just as fuzzy but with a bright lavender coloration all throughout the plant including the flowers. The fruits were surprisingly sweet and delicious reminding one of peaches and oranges in taste. It would make an excellent juice and it's great eaten fresh. The plant has very large attractive purple leaves and reaches 5 feet. It grows as a perennial in mild climates. Thanks to Camilo for making this available.
